Ok, I’m a little late :) but I was busy with the actual holidays :). Casting my mind alllll the way back to November, thanks everyone for another wonderful trip back to Georgia. It is comforting to be able to come back and hang out with family and friends as if we never left. Check out the pictures of Thanksgiving here: Thanksgiving 2007 Album

For my family that traveled across the country to spend Christmas with us, thank you so much!! In readying the pictures for the website this last week, I was reminded how amazing this Christmas was. So, you can relive our adventures at Pikes Peak, Garden of the Gods, Breckenridge, and getting snowed in on Christmas Day, all here: Christmas 2007 Album. For everyone who wasn’t here but would like to check out some awesome pictures, I made a “highlights” photo album here Christmas Highlights. And please enjoy this Christmas video featuring those photos (turn your sound on!):

Kaylee update: After going through some puppy growing pains (physical and behavioral!), Kaylee has come out the other side as a wonderful, sweet, beautiful substitute child :) . Recent pictures of Kaylee and Dagny are in the Pets Album.

I have also closed out the Scenic 2007 and Brandy and Andy (2007) albums, there are some great photos from the last few months. Thankfully, the winter has been much more calm this year (cold, but with a noticeable lack of blizzards), so the mega-snow pictures are a little lacking. I am not complaining ;).

No, neither your eyes nor your memory are deceiving you…the website does look ever so slightly different. I am updating the look and style, as well as taking advantage of Web 2.0-ish upgrades to make the site more manageable (for me), and potentially more fun and useful (for you) in the future. I will probably continue to tweak things for awhile - if you run across anything that is horribly broken or ugly, just drop me a comment or email :)

As some of you know, we recently lost Gizmo, our puppy dog of 15 years :( She was disabled but still loving life for the last few years, but in the last few months she started a decline from which she could not recover. With me my entire adult life, and our entire marriage, she was truly a part of our family and will forever be missed.

Gizmo

After a very difficult and sad two weeks around this house, as Andy has so eloquently put it, we decided the worst loss would be if the hurt was the catalyst that closed us off to the joys and fun of life - even if only slightly. We did exactly what we should have, and what every single person we know told we had to do to heal - we opened our door and our heart to a new little furry friend - the indomnitable Kaylee!

Kaylee

Kaylee is a “Cavachon,” a mix between a Cavalier King Charles Spaniel and a Bichon Frise. She has the spaniel face, eyes and ears, and a strong dose of the Bichon hair :) She is insanely friendly, happy and fearless, and is determined to make Dagny be the same way.

So, I have reorganized the “Pets” Albums on the website a bit; Gizmo, Dagny and now Kaylee each have their own albums. Here is the link to the “Pets” Album, and the link directly to the Kaylee Bonanza. If the pictures aren’t enough, there is a special video of Kaylee in action there as well. Hope you enjoy :)

In other pictures news, you can find photos of our recent visit to gorgeous Rocky Mountain National Park, and various new photos in Scenic 2007 and Brandy and Andy.

See everyone soon for Thanksgiving!

[EDIT]: We are currently experiencing our first snowfall of the season!

Our street yesterday midday, 70 degrees:

So far Kaylee is taking it in stride :)

Kaylee's first snow

Long time, no see….actually, no ;) . I haven’t felt too strong an urge to post here this spring and summer, as most of you reading this have been coming out to visit us!
We have really enjoyed having family and friends come to stay with us, you are all welcome back any time - and if you haven’t made it out here yet, get on it!

Quick life update - the house is great, jobs are great, Colorado is great. With that out of the way, the big news is that I have completely revamped the Photo Gallery website (new link - Photo Gallery). It should be easier to use in all respects - navigate around, look at pictures, and see new pictures. Just in case, below the *** I have more detail on its features. It’s also much easier to update, so expect regular updates from now on.

There are tons of pictures from these busy nine months since my last post, such as: Turning a House Into a Home . . . Best of Family and Friends Visits . . . More Georgeous Colorado Scenery . . . and the 2007 Wyoming Branding.

Even better, there are lots of OLD pictures…every picture Andy and I own has been scanned and uploaded - but don’t worry, they are all neatly catalogued and categorized for easy viewing of just what you want to see :) . For instance, our Wedding Photos are available (wonderful pics of everyone in here), and 50+ years of Linnenkohl Family Pictures and Bayer Family Pictures - have a blast down memory lane.

Of course, you can always just go to the Main Photo Gallery Page and browse at your leisure. Make sure and scroll down through the full album list. Also, the links on the right side of this page are all updated and working. While you are there, please feel free to register on the photo site and leave comments on your favorite photos.

Ok, some tips on the new photo gallery. All our pictures are organized by theme, event, or year. Each thumbnail picture with a title beside it is a separate photo album - just click on the picture or the title to go to that album.

In an album, you will see thumbnail pictures of all the photos in the album. Click on a thumbnail to open up a medium-sized picture, with lots of viewing options:

Click the “Slide Show” button to, well, watch a slide show of the pictures in that album, or use the little arrows on the top right to manually move through the pictures. On the top left is a navigation strip, so you can move back up the album structure. And, you can always get back to the main page by clicking “Home” on the right side of the page.

Click on the current picture again to get the full-sized version of the picture - great for downloading (right click, “save image as”). Click on the big picture to go right back to the album viewer.

If you have registered, you can rate and comment on the pic, or use the “E” button on the top right to email the picture directly to someone.

At the bottom of every page, there are two sections - “Random Files” (random photos in that album) and “Last Additions” (recently added photos, newest first, in that album). You can also see the most recent photos added to the website by clicking on “Last uploads” on the top right side of the page.

The “Blog” link on the right sends you back here, and the “Contact” link lets you email the website overlord - me! Enjoy :)

Thanks to our families for making our Thanksgiving trip home truly wonderful.

It was terrific spending time with everyone, and the entire week just flew by. I’m so glad I was able to memorialize it with lots of awesome pictures - you don’t want to miss these, so here they are: Thanksgiving 2006 Pictures.

For hardcore family, the house is nearly finished (2 1/2 weeks to go)! House-in-Progress Pictures.

In advance, best wishes to everyone in this holiday season, Merry Christmas and Happy New Year :D!

Ok, hopefully this won’t be a total “pay attention to the wondrousness that is me!” page. But I was thinking, that as our life continues forward out here in Colorado, with new adventures, friends and significant life events, the pictures that I post in the Gallery will begin to lack, well, context. You could, in theory, find yourself saying “Oh look, Brandy and Andy in front of yet. another. mountain. Isn’t that nice.”

So, I’m starting this blog-ish page with these ideas in mind, to let family and friends know what is going on in our life, and to provide little stories/background to go with new pictures that get posted. On the right side you will find direct links to the various photo albums and other information we have up on the web.

I have sent a link to this page to family and friends where I have ready email addresses. Please feel free to pass it on to other people who would come under the umbrella of “family and/or friends of Brandy and/or Andy.” But I don’t intend for it to be for general public consumption, and it shouldn’t show up on a Google search.

Just a quick summary of where we are today: We moved to Colorado Springs in May 2006. Andy is working at a terrific job as a Product/Reliability Engineer; I am working as a Legal Editor, which is also terrific, because, though it is still law, in a few months it will become home-based and flex-timed, allowing me to live my life.

We currently have an apartment with a magnificent view of the mountains and the Air Force Academy from our balcony. We are in the process of building a house, and if you like (though why would you?), you can follow the house-building here: House-in-Progress Pics. As I’ve told many of you, once the house is complete (likely December), we will have plenty of room to host visitors, and welcome them. We can take you on adventures, or just provide a place to sleep while you go on your own.

Below I have added my first comments to go with pictures and events since we moved to Colorado. In the future, I will make new posts as things get added. Enjoy!

Scenes around Colorado Springs (Link)

Nowadays, I almost always have the camera handy. This section consists of random photographs I have taken around the greater Colorado Springs area, including from our balcony, in town, and especially at some of the local parks and trails. Just to give you a flavor of the beauty of the area!

Colorado Adventures (Link)

Air Force Football

Considering that we can see the stadium from our apartment, it had to happen. The pictures are from the game against in-state rival Colorado State. No, it wasn’t quite Auburn-Alabama or Georgia-Georgia Tech, but it was a very exciting, high-energy game, which Air Force came from behind and won. Go Falcons!

Slammin’ Bobs Softball
Andy braved the chilly fall nights to play mens softball in the Colorado Springs rec league. The team is mostly made up of guys from work and other techies in town; the moniker is an inside joke I couldn’t hope to explain. I won’t comment on their record, but they are considering changing their name next season to the “Bad News Bobs.”

Hiking Mount Almagre

In mid-August we went on our first hiking adventure, with one of Andy’s co-workers as a guide. Mount Almagre is the second highest peak in the Colorado Springs area (the first being Pikes, of course), at 12,500 ft. Its nickname is “Mount Baldy”, because its summit is above the treeline and somewhat rounded (not very dramatic looking). The first half of the hike was almost like walking through an old forest. Eventually the trees faded away and the trail got more rugged as it cut across the mountain. The most amazing part was when we reached the east side of the mountain and could see downtown Colorado Springs, way, way below us. Witness the power of the camera zoom on picture - 13 miles roundtrip, about 5.5 hours - quite the adventure indeed!

Lake Granby/Grand Lake/Winter Park

On Labor Day weekend we went on a trip was organized by some friends we met through Andy’s work. Some info about the area - Granby is an old cowboy town that is considering becoming a trendy tourist spot, and lies in a valley between the Berthoud Pass/Winter Park and Rocky Mountain National Park. Between Granby and the entrance to RMNP, there is a group of three large lakes and a number of smaller ones. On Saturday we fished and cooked out at Lake Granby. I was shocked to see all the sailboats and powerboats all over the water, out here in the middle of the mountains!

On Sunday we went to Grand Lake, at the entrance to Rocky Mountain National Park. The pictures, try though I did, have not captured how beautiful this place was on a day of perfect weather. The lake glistened in the sunlight, the mountains were green, children and adults played in the parks and on the water. The nearby hiking trails went up into the mountains, where the trees and streams created cool, shady serenity (or would have, if not for all the people!). Saturday evening we went to Winter Park Resort, which is a ski resort in the winter and a mountain biking resort in the summer. It being a holiday weekend, it was quite the festival. Amazingly, it was their last weekend open before getting ready for the ski season, and they expected to be open for skiing within 2 months!
